About RALSNET Co.
RALSNET Co. is a company that helps real estate companies all over Japan increase their sales.
We are creating a portal site for searching real estate properties.
Our main businesses include operating the community-based portal site “Fudosan Rengotai” and creating websites for real estate companies.
We continue to evolve every day with the belief in “making real estate companies grow.
Develop Fun!! RALSNET’s Engineering Culture
In fact, about 60% of the employees at RALSNET Co. are engineers. Therefore, we have created an environment that is easy for engineers to work in and grow in.
Our motto is “Develop Fun!!” and we have fun working on development every day based on the idea that “a service that is not fun to develop will not be fun to use.”
RALSNET Co. is currently undergoing a new rebirth.
We are in the midst of renewing our services and systems, so this is the most exciting time for growth in RALSNET ‘s history.
Interview with the development team about their real-life environment!
What exactly do engineers at RALSNET Co. do?
We spoke to two members of our development team, Yusuke Sato (joined the company as a new graduate in 2019) and Jin Tenma (joined the company as a new graduate in 2021), about what kind of work they do, how they set goals and grow, and more!
-What kind of work do you usually do?
Tenma: We’re currently revamping RALS Manager, a system that real estate companies use to register properties.
We’re calling it the “New RALS Manager,” and I’m in charge of the backend.
We mainly use Go, and in combination with AWS we’re developing in a more modern environment.
In addition to the backend, I also work on the infrastructure side, and specifically I use IaC tools such as Terraform to manage the infrastructure.
Sato: I’m also on the development team for New RALS Manager, and I’m mainly in charge of the front-end part that customers can see.
Within the team, we use React and TypeScript, and I’m particularly focused on developing with new technologies.
For example, I’m creating applications (SPAs) that switch screens smoothly without requiring browser reloads.
Tenma: By incorporating new technology into development, the real estate companies that use the system feel like it runs more smoothly.
By the way, I think Mr.Sato studied technical subjects in university, but I studied humanities at a university, so I’m completely self-taught (laughs).
When I joined the company, I had no foundation other than self-study. But now I’m in charge of development.
RALSNET Co. is an environment where you can become a flexible engineer who can handle any project.
-You two may have started from different points, but how do you set goals and proceed with your work?
Tenma: I have regular meetings with my boss and we set short-term goals, like, “I want to be able to do this in the next two months.”
When I explain the work I’m currently working on or the problems I’m facing, he gives me advice like, “Maybe if you do this, you’ll develop that skill?”, so I can set specific goals.
Sato: I think of “completing the ____ page on the New RALS Manager” as a task, not a goal, and the goal is to decide how to proceed with the work in order to achieve that task.
Tenma: As you complete various tasks, you realize things like, “I can do it more efficiently if I do it this way,” and you develop the ability to proceed in an order that prevents you from going back.
Sato: That’s right. I usually work mainly on the front end, but I also try to participate in back-end work to understand the overall flow of the project. This helps me to gain a deeper understanding of the overall process flow.
-By doing so, you can grow into an “engineer with leadership skills” who can improve the overall quality and integrity of the system.
Thank you, Mr. Sato and Mr. Tenma!
No matter where you start when you join RALSNET Co., it’s an environment where you can grow while adopting the latest technology.
We provide thorough support, so you can take on a wide range of work without hesitation.
If something seems interesting, you can adopt it into your development environment.
At RALSNET, we have a flexible development environment and choose the most suitable technology depending on the purpose.
We mainly used PHP, but in recent projects we have been proactively using new technologies.
Our style is to embrace anything that seems interesting!
▽This is the main technology we use.
▽We are developing this using a BFF configuration.
In other words… you can choose the technology that best suits your goals, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to come into contact with cutting-edge technology!
As an engineer, you’ll gain real skills to survive in the future.
This is an environment that I can confidently recommend to people who enjoy taking on new challenges.
It’s not just about coding, reviews are the key to growth
For engineers working at RALSNET, coding is not the only opportunity for growth.
At our company, after coding is completed, other engineers review the program and, if it’s OK, we put it into operation.
This “review” is a great opportunity for growth that broadens your skills and horizons.
▽Gain a user perspective based on reviews.
Reviews are not just code checks; they emphasize “how you thought about the issue and created the program.”
Don’t just think that “it’s fine as long as the program works,” but instead get in touch with the ideas of other engineers and users to create code that will satisfy them!
By incorporating the customer’s perspective into the things you have thought up and created, you can grow exponentially.
Turning your ideas into reality! The appeal of in-house development
Because RALSNET does everything in-house, from planning to development, you can turn your ideas for “I wish there was a service like this” into reality.
For example, there is the local portal site “Fudosan Rengotai” This is a service that introduces property information and the features of real estate companies, allowing you to have fun searching for the perfect property.
▽A property search site specialized for each region. Currently being revamped to make the system even easier to use!
◆With the goal of making this site the easiest portal site to use, we conducted online interviews with users and gathered their opinions.
◆With the idea of ”making it easier for real estate companies to write property descriptions,” we created an AI-based automatic property comment generation function.
In this way, we are constantly evolving our services, incorporating customer thoughts and ideas into them.
We feel a tangible sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in receiving positive feedback from the approximately 1,000 real estate companies across Japan that are members of “Fudosan Rengotai”.
The difference between developing your own system and developing a system for another company
For example, our company is a web company that develops its own services, so we have an environment where we can quickly incorporate any technology that we think is interesting and do modern development.
However, this is not always the case at system integrator companies that build systems for other companies.
At system integrator companies, it is up to other companies to decide what to create, so even if you’re interested in a new technology or trend, you often can’t incorporate it into your work.
A comprehensive training system. We also pride ourselves on providing support for improving your skills!
RALSNET values the growth of its employees, so it has a thorough backup system in place.
Don’t worry if you have any worries like, “Will I be able to get by with my skills after joining the company?” – we can quickly dispel those worries!
Of course, after you join the company, senior employees will provide you with full support!
Don’t worry, you can always ask questions.
In the weekly engineer training, we share what we have learned on the job and through self-study, and work as a team to improve our skills.
The company will also cover the costs of learning, such as purchasing books and attending seminars!
In addition, if you obtain a qualification related to your work, the exam fee will be refunded. *Up to a maximum of 50,000 yen
▽There are lots of support systems to take advantage of.
In addition, you will have regular interviews with your supervisor to set individual goals. We will support you so that you can steadily grow based on your skills and experience.
Please feel free to consult us about anything, such as how to proceed with work or any concerns you may have.
Overcoming language barriers
If you want to work as an engineer in Japan, do you have any concerns like the following?
- Will your Japanese level be enough to get the job done?
- Can you adapt to Japan’s unique culture?
At RALSNET, we are taking various measures to help people who want to work in Japan to easily adjust to work.
Japanese Language Support
Employees use Zoom’s translation and subtitle function when talking with each other.
Because RALSNET encourages remote work, many employees communicate through Zoom.
Zoom’s translation and subtitle function is a system in which when employees converse in Japanese, English subtitles are displayed in real time.
Please refer to the following website for supported languages.
Reference:Zoom|Enabling and configuring translated captions
When playing videos via screen sharing, translated subtitles are displayed, making communication easier.
Of course, since this is a mechanical translation, it may not be accurate.
In those cases, employees communicate with each other using diagrams.
Some employees who have many opportunities to interact with foreign engineers are studying English using ChatGPT or books.
Overcoming the language barrier is difficult, but let’s come together by learning about each other’s cultures!
Unique Japanese Culture
Those who have lived outside of Japan may feel uneasy about cultural differences.
It is said that Japanese companies have the following culture. Some of you may have heard of it.
- Overtime is the norm in Japan.
- Strict business etiquette is expected.
There are companies like this, but you don’t need to worry about that at RALSNET.
At RALSNET, superiors do not force their subordinates to work overtime. Working late into the night is not productive.
Even if you have to work overtime or on holidays, you will be paid an allowance.
The atmosphere in the company is also free and relaxed. There is no dress code for employees other than the sales department, and many employees come to work in their own clothes.
For those who are new to Japanese, you may be worried about using honorific language, but rest assured that you will not be scolded.
In 2024, Mr.Raj, an engineer from India, joined RALSNET.
Mr.Raj also seemed to be worried before joining the company, but he said, “Thanks to the environment where employees are always there to support me, my fears have eased.”
▽You can see Raj’s interview article (with English translation) below.

On the other hand, there may be words that are normal for us Japanese but that you may find rude.
Not only do we want you to learn about Japanese culture, but we also want to learn about the culture of your country.
Let’s share our cultures and communication skills and build a relationship of trust!
Finally
“I want to make full use of my skills in an environment where I can continue to grow.”
